Caption: The chart shows floating weekly average water temperatures of Lagunitas Creek at Kent Release for the years 1997-2001. Maximum floating weekly average water temperatures (MWAT) did not exceeded 16.8°C during any year. Welsh et al. (2001) found that coho are not likely to persist where maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) exceeds 16.8°C. This temperature is characteristic of what is known as a tailwater, where dam releases come from depths within a reservoir where water temperatures are always cool. Some gradual increase in temperature in low flow years, likely as a result of dropping reservoir levels. See Info Links for more information. Data were collected by Marin Municipal Water District.
