Fish: Outmigrant Salmonids by Week, 1987 |
|
Caption: California Department of Fish and Game downstream migrant trap results for Caspar Creek in 1987 show extremely low numbers of young-of-the-year salmonids suggesting that the smaller fish were not captured or counted during this first year of trapping. Outmigration of yearling coho salmon and steelhead trout was most active in the early spring and dropped steadily through May. Low numbers of coho and steelhead yearlings indicate poor smolt production for Caspar Creek in 1987. Total catch should not be considered an outmigrant population estimate due to unknown trap efficiency. See Info Links for more information.
