Fish: Size of Coho Outmigrants 1996 |
|
Caption: The size distribution of outmigrant coho salmon from Caspar Creek in 1996 indicates that the majority of juvenile fish were smolting at less than 95 mm in fork length. The two large individuals in March may have been two-year-old fish. These and the upper portion of the bimodal distribution in April comprise the small proportion of the outmigrants measuring 110-125 mm. Smolt size may strongly determine survivorship during ocean rearing stage of the coho salmon life-cycle. See Info Links for more information.
