Caption: This Chart shows the floating weekly average water temperatures at four sites in the Horse Creek watershed for the year 2002: lower Horse Creek (site 125), middle Horse Creek (site 134), Buckhorn Creek (site 133), and Middle Creek (site 136). Maximum floating weekly average water temperature (MWAT) did not exceeded 16.8°C in any of the four sites, indicating that stream temperatures were suitable for juvenile coho salmon. Welsh et al. (2001) found that coho are not likely to persist where MWAT exceeds 16.8°C. Temperature data come from automated water temperature data probes placed in the Klamath River and its tributaries by the Klamath National Forest and the Karuk Tribe.
