Fish: Chinook (Fall) Weir Counts at Klamathon Racks |

    |
Caption:  Before the construction of Iron Gate Dam, the California Department of Fish and Game operated a trapping weir for Chinook salmon at Klamathon, California just downstream of the current dam site. Fish trapped here were spawned and eggs reared at a hatchery on Fall Creek. The distribution of the run from the years 1939, 1940, 1952, 1953 and 1954 suggests that the peak run timing was in the first two weeks of September. Data received from US Fish and Wildlife Service Arcata Field Office.
