Caption: This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures along the Mainstem Salmon during the summer of 2002. In all locations water temperatures were in the range stressful to Salmonids for much of July through September. The Crapo site tends to be colder because in was in the pool at the mouth of the creek. This is one of the main holding pools for salmon during the summer months. Data for this chart was derived from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by students at Forks of Salmon School, community volunteers, paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council, and USFS.
