Caption: This chart shows the mean V* values for pools in French Creek for 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 2001. V* is the measure of the pool volume fraction that is filled by fine sediments. The chart dictates that levels of fine sediments in pools have been reduced over time. This trend may reflect sediment inputs due to restoration (see Tour: French Creek). V* levels in 2001 were below typical target levels set by EPA TMDLs, which include less than 21% for Franciscan geology and less than 10% for other geologic formations. These data were collected by the USFS Redwood Sciences Laboratory in Arcata, CA. See Info Links for more information.
