Caption:  The chart above shows Peterson method estimates of the number of juvenile Chinook salmon in the Mattole River Estuary during the years 1985-1987, based on beach seine sampling. The percent of juvenile Chinook trapped in the lagoon that survived to enter the ocean was estimated at 6% in 1985, 20% in 1986, and less than 1% in 1987 (Busby et al., 1988).
