Caption:  The above chart shows floating weekly maximum water temperature at two sites in the Mattole River Estuary for the year 1987. The lower site is near the northwest edge of the Mattole lagoon and the upper site is near the east edge of the Mattole lagoon. The floating weekly maximum water temperatures exceeded 18.3° C for all of July and August at both sites. The 18.3° C stress reference value for coho salmon was chosen based on Hines and Ambrose (1998) and Welsh et al. 2001. Data collected by Busby, et al. (1988). See Info Links for more information.
