Fish: Estuary Beach Trawl Sample Totals 2000 |

Caption: This Chart shows the various species caught in the Russian River estuary using an otter trawl net at four sites from September to November 2000. Threespine stickleback was the most numerous species followed by prickly sculpin and bay pipefish, which together comprised 94% of the sample. Station 1 is closest to the ocean while Station 4 is furthest upstream (see Picture tab for map). Only sixteen species were captured in 2000, while 22 species were collected in 1999 samples (MSC, 2001). Data are from Merritt Smith Consulting (2001) in a study conducted for Sonoma County.
