KRIS Russian River: Meta Information Page

This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.

Meta IdentifierCRP_fyke
Type of DataFyke netting
OriginatorMerritt Smith Consulting
DescriptionFyke net monitoring of salmonid passage was conducted to evaluate the potential effects of reclaimed water discharged to Santa Rosa Creek by the Santa Rosa Subregional Reclamation System. Three Russian River tributaries, including two target streams (Mark West Creek and Santa Rosa Creek) and one control (Maacama Creek), were monitored over five migration seasons (1990-1995). Fyke nets were fished in upstream and downstream directions. Data collected include information for steelhead, coho and chinook adults and juveniles. The study period included both normal and unusually dry rainfall seasons. These data come from attribute tables provided in the Russian River Geographic Information System.

PurposeProvides data on salmonid behavior and physical characteristics during the migration season (October - April).
Data Quality InformationHigh. Data for January 1995 are inconsistent, often showing no fish trapped during the 27-day trapping period for some databases.
Use Constraints Fyke netting is only effective during low to moderate stream flow periods so data should not be used to estimate annual salmonid populations estimates.
Supplemental InformationRecords for individual adult salmonids (rr_adults) were only available for the 1993/94 and 1994/95 monitoring years. Data includes salmonids captured moving in both an upstream and downstream direction.
